SQL Saturday
[Wes
Dumey]http://thedamndata.blogspot.com
and krewe hosted [SQL Saturday II]http://www.sqlsaturday.com in Tampa. Over 400 folks registered for the
event. What’s a SQLSaturday? Think SQL Server dedicated codecamp. Its great seeing specialty area community
driven events like this starting up in Florida.
I’d like to thank Wes and Pam Shawn who were the key leaders to get SQL
Saturday II off the ground. As anyone who has been involved in a codecamp or
SQL Saturday will attest, getting a community driven, donation funded event off
the ground is no easy effort. Grapevine
says another SQL Saturday is on the the horizon for Jacksonville on May 3rd
at the Downtown Jax Library. [Brian
Knight]http://pragmaticworks.com/community/blogs/brianknight/default.aspx
and the SQL gang up in Jax have posted the announcement here http://pragmaticworks.com/community/blogs/brianknight/archive/2008/02/14/sql-saturday-jacksonville-announced.aspx . For pictures and
an additional writeup on the Tampa SQL Saturday II event see this post ( http://www.devfish.net/fullblogitemview.aspx?blogid=513

VS2008 Launch Events
Visual
Studio 2008 Launch Events have been scheduled for Orlando, Tampa, and Ft.
Lauderdale. These events promise to be some fun filled days of about 2000 folks
each. [Russ Fustino]http://www.russtoolshed.net
, [Jeff Barnes] http://blogs.msdn.com/jbarnes , and [Joe Healy]http://www.devfish.net will be doing Visual Studio 2008 sessions at
each location. As is our tradition in Florida, we'll be teaming up with some
local Microsoft MVPs to help us with the demos. The MVP list is still being
ironed out, but I'll update this post once we've ironed the scheduling out.
More info and registration details are available at http://www.devfish.net/fullblogitemview.aspx?blogid=511 .
Orlando .NET CodeCamp III
Orlando
.NET CodeCamp III (or Florida Codecamp #18, however you want to view it) is
open for registration. Even better, the call for speakers is open. If you're
looking to go from attendee to speaker to even more, the codecamps are a great
first step. If you're a seasoned community speaker veteran, you know the
codecamps are great fun. As usual [Shawn Weisfeld]http://www.shawnweisfeld.com is on
point for the Orlando .NET CodeCamp, and will be putting together another
fantastic event. See for http://www.devfish.net/fullblogitemview.aspx?blogid=512 more info.
