So I've got the brand new VS2008 and I'm ready to install. Four hours later and various Error 1935 errors,
I'm burned out. So I finally do some research (and email the great
Aaron Stebner in desperation) and
got my issue resolved. My problem? Pending windows updates pushed down by the microsoft SMS.
Essentially some of my files were in contention with the updates being pushed down, and this forced a rollback.
Moral of the story: go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and make sure your machine is current. But
there are some good resources out there I thought I'd share. Note this is also a good checklist for
the upcoming install fests.
Uninstall Visual Studio 2008 Beta2
First things first! - use both checklists

Run the .net framework cleanup tool

Make sure the latest updates are installed
Just as a caution, if you've been uninstalling the framework and such, reboot your box.
Next go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and make sure the latest goodies are in place.
You should be ready to go after this.
Just in case
So something fubar'd. Where do you go for help?
